I have been admiring this wonderful woman since I was a baby. So the Lady I want to talk about is my Nana since she is a special lady.
The reason why she is special is because she has been taking care of me my whole life, she makes me feel comfortable, she disciplines me, she is a thoughtful person, she is generous, she is very helpful also, she cracks me up with her jokes.
My Nana is so amazing that she cares for 9 kids in one home. Even though we can be hard on her she tries to keep her cool and ignores it. Family members pop in and out of the house to give a helping hand. But overall my Nana takes care of all of us with patience and care.
My Nana takes care of the inside and outside cleaning of the house. If somebody is coming over she makes sure everything is spick and span before they get here. There are nine people in the house and she does all the washing in the house. She cooks for everybody in our house and makes sure it is delicious. But my Nana has this rule, “If I cook dinner you do the dishes”(and by you she means me and my brother, Mustafa). Of course, my Nana doesn’t do all this by herself, me and my brother help her every single day.
My Nana can be a bit bothersome when I’m playing my games but if she needs my help I’m right there for her. (as if I have a choice)She lets me have some screen time for a little bit, But when I hear her that beautiful voice scream my name I get so frustrated I feel like punching the screen, but I have the patience to help her.
My Nana is the MOST special person in my life. I know what you’re thinking, you want a Nana just like mine. She Is the best, so my conclusion I love her.

When I first laid my eyes on the beautiful art in the hall I remembered what week it was,Cook Island language week! I went straight to class then sat down waiting for the teacher to start the roll.As our teacher finished the roll we lined up outside patiently waiting for our teacher to come out and tell us to make our way down to the hall.As I stepped in, it was the most decorative assembly I have ever been to.
We were told to stand for the Cook Islands national anthem as we sat on the floor. We had to take a seat after it was finished.Mrs Mauruariki, a teacher’s aide, made a brief speech. She was discussing her mother’s death and how all of the tivaevae were prepared by her hardworking mother.
Mrs Maruarki sat down, then Mrs Atuahavia stood up and then told us about how beautiful the Cook Islands were. She also told us to be proud about where you come from and don’t be discouraged about what culture you come from. I learnt some Cook Island words from Mrs Atuahiva such as Popongi meaning Good morning,Aere ra meaning goodbye,Kia orana meaning hello I’ll try to remember to use theses words on a daily basis. It was really cool learning these words
As the Assembly finished our teacher gave us the order to have a look around at all the delightful art placed around the hall. The first thing I looked at was the tivaevae. It was a really stunning piece of art, I just couldn’t believe that the teacher’s mother made these. Then I looked at the dazzling artifacts placed on top of a table. My favorite one was the necklace made of shells.
The pieces of art were very classy to look at. I really enjoyed it. The Cook Islands is a very precious country,I’d suggest you go for a vacation there.
Throughout the holidays, I didn’t do much. Over the holidays, I didn’t get up until my grandma arrived and told me to, so I had been sleeping in and playing video games. When I got out of bed, I started working. My first task was to make my bed, followed by cleaning my room, and then I went to the bathroom to take a shower. After taking a shower, I changed into my clothes and went to get breakfast. My younger brother and I had to make cereal for our younger brother and my other young cousin. My younger brother and I had to do the dishes after breakfast, although there weren’t many in the sink. After doing the dishes, I insisted on helping my grandmother make her bed by folding the blankets. It took some time, but we managed to finish it quite quickly. After I had helped my Nana clean her bed we went outside to hang all the washing, then we had to fold the clean clothes and blankets then put them away. I asked my Nana if I could go upstairs to play video games but she said “no the house isn’t clean yet”.
“What else is there to do” I asked
She just told me to vacuum the house and all the work for today was done.
I vacuumed as fast as cheetah could go,after I had finished down stairs I had to rush upstairs really fast. I was finally done I walked up to my nana and I said “Im done”
She said “good boy, where is my wallet”
I handed it to her and she gave me my weekly payment for doing my chores,$20. “thank you” I said
“Go play your game now” she says
I rushed upstairs, turned my pc on then started playing my favourite game.
It started off boring but then ended with a great time playing video games.
For reading our group we had to read each text about how living things hear. I had page 5, and it talked about hearing loss.If your cilia hair starts to pick up to many strong vibrations from loud sounds you will lose your cilia, and they don’t grow back, that’s why listening to loud music like heavy machinery racing cars and very loud music can damage your hearing. Be careful when your listening to loud music with headphones cause you don’t know how much its damaging your ears.
